Prevent Jowls
Jowls are one of the most problematic and visible consequences of facial aging and occur partly because the flesh covering the sides of the jaw becomes unsupported by the underlying depressor labii muscles of the lips (the muscles that draw the lips downwards). But they also occur because of certain patterns of muscle use in the face.
Many people do not believe that their jowls are due to the way that their lip muscles are developed, nevertheless it is very true. After thirty years of researching facial aging and developing facial exercises, I can tell by looking at someone in their teens whether they will be prone to getting jowls as they age.
There is much that can be done to reduce jowls and that other sign of aging, turkey-neck, but you will need a little more background about how your facial muscles work, before you can achieve this. I reveal all my techniques in The Ultimate Natural Facelift.
For now just remember that jowls occur because the once well developed depressor muscles of the lips become flaccid allowing the skin to fall.
You can, however, use this very easy technique to help tone the depressor lip muscles, so that the risk of developing jowls is reduced.
Using English vowel sounds, say an exaggerated a, e, i, o, u, taking at least five seconds to say each, opening and closing the mouth slowly.
- Repeat the sequence five times
- Do this once a day.
- It's as easy as that.
